Un grupo de científicos de China ha descubierto cómo producir un tipo de tinta invisible que resulta menos obvia que otras existentes y puede activarse y desactivarse plenamente a conveniencia, publica la revista Nature Communications.
El equipo encabezado por Liang Li, de la universidad Shangai Jiao Tong, destaca que este nuevo sistema, basado en un compuesto de plomo, puede ser «aplicable en la protección de información confidencial«.
Los expertos explican que, normalmente, la tinta invisible se activa y desactiva a demanda con la aplicación de químicos, calor o luz, pero señalan que muchos de los tipos actuales nunca pierden totalmente su luminiscencia cuando están desactivadas, lo que plantea problemas de seguridad, reseñó Efe.
El equipo de Liang Li ha desarrollado una fórmula con un compuesto de plomo incoloro cuya luminiscencia puede ser activada y desactivada con la aplicación de una sal que altera la composición química.
Esta tinta se imprime en un papel especial mediante una impresora de tinta y, una vez impresa, resulta totalmente invisible tanto a la luz natural como a rayos ultravioletas, hasta que su luminiscencia se activa con la mencionada sal.
Cuando se aplica la sal, el mensaje o código escritos pueden ser leídos bajo un foco de luz ultravioleta, y la misma sal se utiliza de nuevo para desactivar su luminosidad.
El hecho de que la misma sal active y desactive la tinta ofrece la posibilidad de «numerosos ciclos de encriptación y desencriptación de información», señalan los científicos.
El equipo de investigadores reconoce que hay que tener en cuenta «la toxicidad de los materiales basados en el plomo», e indican que podría ser posible desarrollar una tinta de características similares con materiales alternativos.
