La empresa se llama “No soy plástico”, fabricará bolsas biodegradables y eligió el sur de Uruguay para instalar la primera planta de biopolímeros de América Latina.
La empresa asegura que producirá bolsas que se disuelven en agua caliente a 80 °C, en la tierra se convierten en abono, en mares y ríos se desintegran, es comestible y carga hasta 4 kg.
La empresa ha enviado muestras de la bolsa a diferentes medios proponiendo que se pongan en una taza de agua caliente y revolver con una cuchara para comprobar si se disolvía. Según la empresa, estas bolsas son 100% orgánicas, 100% compostables y no son tóxicas para ningún ser vivo. De igual manera, ya han recibido la autorización de la Intendencia de Canelones para abrir la planta y evalúa ahora si la ubicará en el Polo Tecnológico de Pando o en otros dos puntos de la ruta 5.
La Ley sobre el uso sustentable de bolsas plásticas, que fue sancionada por el Parlamento en el Día Mundial del Medio Ambiente, establece textualmente:
“Artículo 1°. Declárase de interés general la prevención y reducción del impacto ambiental derivado de la utilización de bolsas plásticas, mediante acciones para desestimular su uso, promover su reutilización, reciclado y otras formas de valorización.
Artículo 2º. (Alcance).- Quedan alcanzadas por la presente ley todas las bolsas plásticas utilizadas para contener y transportar productos y bienes que: A) Sean suministradas a un consumidor en cualquier punto de venta o de entrega; y B) No sean parte de la presentación del producto, sea al por mayor o menor, en cualquier rubro, giro o actividad. Lo anterior salvo las exclusiones que se prevén en el artículo siguiente.
